Chapter two talks abut the basic ideas in civilization that were revolutionary at the time specifically farming. Farming brought the world a new level of sustainability that it did not have before, seeing that most civilizations were very nomadic and followed the food. Being able to settle and feed the group without the constant movement brought more food, which in turn brought longer and more human life. As the new advance diffused around the world, different peoples were taking their local resources and doing the same, with the inevitable twist on it to fit their peoples needs the best.
